Kwara spends N551m on micro projects

The Kwara State government, through its World Bank-assisted Kwara State Community and Social Development Agency (KWCSDA), has completed 99 community micro-projects at N551 million. Seventy-eight others are ongoing.

About 104 communities have benefited from the World Bank and Kwara State infrastructural intervention this year.

Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed stated this yesterday in Ilorin, at the presentation of the cheque of N34 million to 16 communities. The initiative is under the Community and Social Development Project (CSDP) of KWCSDA.

Ahmed, who was represented by the Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Wasiu Odewale, said the government had spent N551 million on the projects.

His words: "The projects have empowered rural dwellers and reduced poverty at the grassroots, by increasing access to improved social infrastructural services, through a co-financing of community development investments.

"Obviously, this gesture has impacted positively on benefiting communities, as they are currently enjoying various degrees of development.

"Kwara is one of the 26 states currently enjoying the benefits of community and social development projects. Ogun, Borno, Kaduna, Sokoto and Anambra States have shown interest in joining the project because of the derivable benefits."
