KWSG Relocates Okirika Traders to Sango Area
The Kwara State Government has called on Okirika traders to cooperate with the state government in order to ensure cleanliness of major roads in the state capital.
The state commissioner for Commerce and Cooperatives, Mallam Raji Mohammed made the call during a meeting held with the traders of used clothes popularly called known as Okirika or B.K. sellers.
Raji said that the meeting was aimed at protecting the lives and properties of the peole from unforseen accidents and preventing congestion every Sunday.
The Commissioner who observed that, selling Okirika clothes on the major roads every Sunday is embarrassing and ridiculous, promised to relocate them to Kulende market along Sango areas where they would be well organised and contribute better to the economy of the state while also retaining the state image as one of the neatest in the country.
Raji promised that the ministry is also ready to advertise the movement for them on Radio so that it would be easier for the people to know their new location to enhance more patronage.
He therefore implored them to move to Kulende market within two weeks and enjoin them to comply with the rules and regulations of the government as directed saying that the use of the new location is free of charge.
Responding, the leader of the team, Mr. Eric Alagbodor expressed his appreciation to the state government for creating a condicive environment for B.K. sellers to carry out their businesses.
He then assured the Government of the preparedness of the traders to cooperate with the government and also pledged to work for the success of the present administration under the leadership of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed at all times.
