Lottery commission denies staff protest in Kwara

Date: 2017-01-03

The National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) has denied media reports that its workers staged a protest in Ilorin the Kwara state capital in December 2016 over alleged maladministration and insensitivity of management.

A statement by the Commission's Head, Media/Public Affairs, Magnus Ekechukwu said no such incident happened adding that the purported protest was only a figment of the imagination of the writers of the story.

He further stated that NLRC had no staff named David Ajayi either in Ilorin office or any other location and that contrary to claims that the Director General of the Commission, Mr. Adolphus Joe Ekpe was contacted over the story, no such calls were put across to the DG by any reporter on such issues or any other issue.

The statement added that the NLRC DG therefore advises media practitioners to endeavour to cross check facts before publication and added that the Commission is working hard to improve the welfare of its staff and ensure proper motivation as contained in its objectives.

Ekechukwu further stated that the Commission will not join issues with elements who hide under the guise of journalism practise to perpetrate evil and will also not succumb to any form of blackmail emanating from any quarter.
