We registered over 250,000 for National ID cards in Kwara - NIMC
More than 250,000 people have registered for new national identity cards in Kwara State by the National Identity Management Commission, the State Coordinator, Olumoh Habeeb, has said at a press briefing with journalists in Ilorin on Tuesday.
Habeeb said: “We have registered more than 250,000 people in Kwara beginning in 2012.
“We have 12 operational centres across the state for easy access to the public.”
He said the commission was facing office accommodation problem in some local government areas and appealed to the affected council chairmen to help accommodate the staff.
The NIMC boss urged the public to embrace the exercise and appealed to stakeholders to mobilise their communities in ensuring mass registration.
Habeeb stressed: “People without the national identity cards might not be allowed to perform official and business transactions in the country, hence the need to register.”
