Two Kwara Civil Servants docked over forgery

Date: 2016-08-26

Two Civil Servants in Kwara State have been arraigned before an Ilorin Chief Magistrate Court on Thursday for alleged forgery.

The suspects are, Gbadeyan Micheal, aged 52 years, of Ero-Omo Area Offa Garage, Ilorin and Usman Azeez, 35 years, of Gbagba Area Kulende, Ilorin.

They were docked for two count charges of Criminal Conspiracy and Forgery contrary to sections 97 and 364 of Penal Code Law.

The Police First Information Report (FIR) obtained by The Guild, said the matter was consequent upon a report by Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) at Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Ilorin for discreet investigation.

According to the FIR, one Samuel Ade Ajayi in July came to KWIRS, Ilorin Licensing Office, Area 1, for verification of his particulars, motor license, stickers and number plate issued by the first suspect, but all the documents were discovered to be fake.

"Investigation conducted at the CIID, Ilorin revealed that you (first and second suspects) conspired and issued fake/forged vehicle particulars, motor license, stickers and number plate to unsuspecting people," police said.

The Police Prosecutor, Nasir Yusuf told the court that investigation on the matter is still in progress and therefore prayed that the suspects be remanded in the prison custody.

In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Mohammed Ibrahim granted the suspects bail in the sum of N100, 000 each and two sureties in the like sum.

The case was, however, adjourned till September 6, 2016 for further mention.
