Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Barrister Rasak Atunwa, has called on the federal government and security agencies to check the influx of illegal aliens into the country to further strengthen the nation’s security.

Barrister Atunwa made the call in Ilorin in statement yesterday through his Special Assistant on Media, Abdul Rahman Sanni while reacting to the murder of majority leader of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Mr. Gyang Fulani, and the chairman, Senate committee on health, Dr. Gyang Ditong.

He also urged the federal government to find an enduring solution to the recurring crisis in Plateau State to save the nation from drifting to anarchy.

The statement described the killings in Plateau as shocking and national embarrassment, which according to him, must be put to an end at all cost.

He said it was disheartening and unacceptable that Fulani herdsmen from neighboring Chad and Niger Republic could be causing monumental havoc in the country, without the nation’s security agencies apprehending the suspects.

The speaker therefore called for concerted efforts by all stakeholders in curbing the security problem in the Plateau and other parts of northern Nigeria, saying that the security challenge confronting the nation was portraying Nigeria as a "barbaric nation".
