Provost makes case for technical education... commends Gov Ahmed for his entrepreneurship drive
The need for state and federal governments to prioritize technical education in the country's quest for technological breakthrough has been stressed.
The Provost, Kwara State College of Education Technical, Lafiagi, Alhaji Alhassan Banni Ishiak, who was speaking shortly after the matriculation of students of the institution in Lafiagi, Edu LGA, declared that a nation's development and prosperity is hinged to a large extent, to the status of its science and technology which has the capacity to bring any nation out of poverty, create wealth and diversify its economy.
According to him, "Science and Technology can make life a lot easier and better with the advancement of so many remarkable things in various sectors, such as industrialization, education, communication, agriculture as well as health to analyse diseases, thus resulting in the increased economic output globally.
Ishiak posited that science and technology remains the future of Nigeria and called on the present administration to speedily improve the country's technical education to assist it in speedily turning the fortunes of the country around. To hasten growth and development of our country, there is need to equip the technical sector with all necessary facilities to aid research thirst of young professionals.
Ishaik called for the strengthening of entrepreneurship to enhance technical and vocational skills directed towards advancement of science and technology in the country.
The provost, however, commended the Kwara State Government under the leadership of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for his technological drive and encouragement of the college to continue to excel. In his remarks, the registrar of the college, Alhaji M.S. Magaji congratulated the matriculants, urging them to shun bad companies and anti-social behaviours that could adversely affect their academic pursuits.
Also speaking, the deputy provost (Admin) of the College, Comrade L.S. Ajibade implored the state government to assist in the poor road network and drainage to prevent erosion within the college campus.
