Oladimeji, Chukwuemeka react to NNL draws Kwara News Sports11 hours ago
The Chairman of Kwara United Football Club, Prince Oladimeji Ladi Thompson and the Director of Football at Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Ilorin FC have reacted to the Nigeria National League (NNL) draws, which places the two Kwara teams in Groups A2 and B2 respectively, for the 2015/2016 season.
Speaking to The Heraldsports, Prince Oladimeji said that the draws were transparently conducted, and that what mattered most is the preparation of the team, and not the group they actually fell in. Kwara United will be up against Adamawa United, FC Taraba, Wikki Feeders, Supreme Court of Abuja, FC Zamfara, Dreams International FC of Makurdi and Gombe United.
Kwara United will open their campaign against Adamawa United on May 7 in Ilorin.According to Prince Oladimeji, 'We have set ourselves a target, which was to qualify for the Premier League, and we are working hard towards achieving that', he said. He charged the players and officials of the team, as well as the stakeholders, to brace up for the challenge, which he said, are not going to be easy.
He assured the players and officials of government's unalloyed support and adequate motivation towards achieving the set goals, even as he called for prayers. He commended the state government for its support for the team.
ABS Ilorin FC will play in Group B2 alongside Crown FC, Prime FC, Julius Atete FC, Bayelsa United, First Bank, Gateway United and Bendel Insurance, and the Alloy Chukwuemeka said that ABS Ilorin FC has no place in the NNL but in the Premier League, assuring that the team will gain promotion this season.
'ABS Ilorin FC has no problem at all. Its other teams that are praying to avoid ABS Ilorin FC because they know what we are capable of doing, and now that the draws have been made, we only call for free and fair officiating', he said.
'It is hoped that the introduction of Match Assessors, increment in March Officials indemnities and the coming of television coverage will bring some level of sanity into the system', he added.
Also speaking as a member of the NNL Ad-hoc Committee, ge said that the committee was charged with the responsibility to reform the system so that it will attract sponsors, and that that can only be done if the league is sanitized. He called for support and prayers for the team.
