A woman, Ayisat Amodu of Fulani Camp, via Ilesha Baruba, Kwara State, who allegedly conspired with two men and kidnapped his grandfather for a ransom have been arraigned before an Ilorin Chief Magistrate Court.

Ayisat and the two men, Ali Mohammed a.k.a Yellow of no fixed address and Adamu Hassan aka Blacky of Tunbia Fulani Camp, via Ilesha Baruba, Kwara State, had appeared before the court on a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, aiding and kidnapping. The offences contravened Sections 2, 6 and 1 of Kwara State Prohibition of Kidnapping Law, 2010.

Police from Ilesha Baruba, Kwara State arrested the accused following a report on February 23 by one Umoru Yakubu of Tunbuyan Fulani Camp, via Ilesha Baruba, Kwara State, that some gunmen invaded their camp and forcefully took his father, Alhaji Yakubu Bello to unknown destination.

The complainant stated that, in the process of searching for his father, he received information that it was Ayisat (first accused) and Adamu (third accused) that criminally conspired to kidnap the victim.

Upon the information, Ayisat, who was the granddaughter of the victim was arrested and during investigation she allegedly confessed that it was her, the accused and five others now at large that connived and kidnapped the aged hapless victim for ransom.

Police First Information Report (FIR) stated that investigation conducted at Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Ilorin, revealed that the accused and others at large were the kidnappers that formed a kidnapping and armed robbery syndicate terrorizing residents in the area where nefarious and evil act were very rampant.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Nasir Yusuf informed the court that investigation into the case was still ongoing with the aim to apprehend the fleeing culprits. The prosecutor, however, objected bail of the accused and urged the court to remand them in prison custody pending the outcome of investigation.

The judge, Mr. A.M. Ibrahim upheld the submission of the prosecutor and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Federal Prison, Oke-Kura, Ilorin, until March 22 when the case would come up for further mention.
