Date: 2016-03-09

The victim was said to have died of injury and shock from the thunder which struck him during rainfall in the afternoon.

Another victim of the thunder, an unidentified female, was said to have regained consciousness after being treated by some traditional healers - Sango worshippers.

The deceased, a bricklayer, was said to be working at a building site when the incident occurred at about 5.30 p.m.

Adeyemi, according to an eye witness, who wants to remain anonymous, was washing his tools after close of work when the thunder struck.

The eyewitness said Adeyemi's clothes were burnt from the impact of the thunder and was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital along with the female victim.

According to the source, the victims were later referred to Iloffa, another suburb by the hospital management for proper traditional treatment after learning about the cause of the incident.

The Sango worshippers at Ilofa were said to have tried to resuscitate Adeyemi to no avail.

The wife of the deceased who is pregnant was seen crying profusely when a Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) visited Ilofa Tuesday morning.

Mr Ajayi Okasanmi, the Police Public Relations Officer in Kwara State, told NAN that the command was yet to be briefed on the incident.
