A merchandise company operating on the campus, the Sovereign Campus Concept Limited, has donated a Toyota Sienna bus to the University of Ilorin Students' Union to boost its activities.

Speaking at the formal presentation of the vehicle penultimate Friday (February 5, 2016), the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali (OON), thanked the merchandise company for being among the few companies operating on the campus that give back to the University. Prof. Ambali expressed the hope that the vehicle would aid the Students' Union to be more efficient.

Congratulating the executive council of the Students' Union, the Vice-Chancellor said, "This is a test run of your administrative capacity; you are selfless in your administration. I congratulate you for having the interest of your constituency at heart".

In his remarks, the Managing Director of Sovereign Campus Concept Limited, Mr. Bello Habeeb Olalekan, expressed the company's delight to give back to the system, saying, "We just don't want to make money from the University, but we want to fulfill our corporate responsibility by giving back to the system."

Mr. Bello later handed over the vehicle's key to the Vice-Chancellor, who in turn handed it over to the Dean of the Student Affairs, Prof. A. E. Talabi. The Dean Students Affairs equally handed the key to the Students' Union President, Comrade Idris Alao Ibrahim.

In his remarks, the Students' Union President, said he was happy with the initiative, noting that it would ameliorate the suffering of the Students' Union, while acknowledging that it has also saved the University another huge expense. Also present at the presentation ceremony was the Director of Academic Planning (DAP), Prof. Abayomi Omotesho.
