Kwara APC reacts to spurious PDP group on Saraki's CCT trial

Date: 2016-02-11

The All Progressives Congress in Kwara State has noted with consternation a press statement issued by a spurious group, operating under a non-existent caucus, Kwara Leadership Caucus within the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State, wherein some issues were raised on the trail of the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

We view the press statement as rantings of expired politicians who are still angry that the Senate President coordinated the political onslaught that finally laid PDP to rest in Kwara State. They are yet to recover from post-election trauma and we urge the people of Kwara State to disregard them and the expressed vitulperations in the said press statement.

Clearly, there is nothing new in the press statement except for renewed brazen disdain for truth and attempt by expired politicians, who are seeking political relevance, to confuse the unsuspecting populace with layers of lies and write themselves back to the consciousness of Kwarans.

We strongly dismiss the insinuation that the treasury of Kwara State was looted as irresponsibly alleged. In the last thirteen years, it is on record and easily verifiable that international audit firms and reputable government agencies have audited the finances of Kwara State Government and gave the government a clean financial state.

On the trail of the Senate President, we maintain that the charges are trump-up, the ordeal was politically- motivated and a political witch-hunt aimed at undermining the person and the office of the Senate President. We strongly believe the Senate President will be vindicated at the end of the judicial process.

Finally, since the spurious group claimed to belong to the PDP, why didn't it find it necessary to issue any press statement on anti-corruption crusade during the President Goodluck Jonathan era, an administration renowned as the most corrupt government in the world. That government was a Peoples Democratic Party-led government yet this accidental group made no statement in defence of Kwarans against unprecedented looting of our national resources by its leaders in the PDP. The people of Kwara State cannot be fooled. They are wise enough to see through the shenanigans of these filthy individuals. Kwarans know their true enemy and that is exactly what a spurious group like the Kwara Leadership Caucus represents.
