The apex socio-cultural association of indigenes of Ilorin, the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has implored security agencies to intensify efforts towards ensuring greater security of lives and property within the emirate in particular and the state in general.

In a nine-point communique issued at the end of its 2015 annual national conference, the union also called on the Emirate Council to provide adequate security at the Ilorin eid-praying ground to prevent abuse by unauthorised users. The statement was signed by the national publicity secretary of the association, Alhaji Salihu Abdulwahab.

The IEDPU, which planned to donate the sum of one million naira annually for the maintenance of the Ilorin Central Mosque, said that the sum would be spread over the year through monthly payments.

The association also implored the five local government councils in the emirate to reconstruct the Ilorin Emirate House along Ali Akilu Road, Kaduna "in consonance with her neighbouring Zaria and Adamawa Emirate Houses.
