Best practices will aid organisational growth - Kwara CBPA
Chairman, Kwara Coalition of Business and Professional Association, Chief Hezekieh Adedeji, has urged managements of organisations to adopt professional best practices to ensure growth of their organisations.
Speaking during a summit organised by the group with the business community in Ilorin on Monday, he said there was the need to have a better understanding of the problems of the private sector, adding that problems of the private sector should be put on the public agenda.
Adedeji appealed to the government to provide investment-friendly environment to enable organisations to thrive well.
He stated that there was the need to build public support for those identified challenges of the private sector, adding that KWACOBPA should also assist in creating solutions to those problems.
Adedeji urged the group to provide a vehicle for making better laws and regulations that would impact positively on the growth of organisation. He added that the group should seek to influence policies and programmes of government and its agencies.
Vice-Chairman, KWACOBPA, Kamil Olalekan, said. KWACOBPA, a non-governmental association, made up of 19 notable business and professional associations, said double or multiple taxation and epileptic power were negatively affecting the growth or organisations.
Olalekan also identified high cost of doing business, lack of skill acquisition, lack of patronage and inadequate security as being among growth inhibiting factors.
He called for better government laws and policies and financial support for the organised private sector.
"There is no doubt that the business and professional communities should come together to achieve what we might not individually achieve. "We are prepared to with your support, carefully plan and execute activities for a better business environment.
"We hope to identify and prioritise our problems, form work groups and get consultant to research into issues for proper understanding and balanced representation," Olalekan said.
