Fire Guts Petrol Station In Ilorin

A petrol station has caught fire destroying nearly three million Naira worth of cash and properties in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

According to an eye witness, the fire started around 8:30am on Tuesday from an electric wire spark at the generator room which spread to the main office.

The early arrival of the fire servicemen saved the situation from spreading to nearby buildings.

Most of the belongings such as documents other valuables got burnt as passers-by looked helpless.

While the owner of the MRS fuel station could not be reached, an eyewitness said that the fire started when nobody noticed until it spread.

There were reports that a news reporter who arrived early at the scene was accosted and rough handled in the course of doing his job.
