KWSG to recruit more specialised Health Practitioners - Atolagbe...visits Measles immunisation centres
The Kwara State Government has approved the recruitment of more Specialised Health Practitioners in the state to further strengthen the state Health sector.
The State Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Suleiman Atolagbe Alege also disclosed that plan was underway to renovate more hospitals across the three senatorial districts in addition to those that were renovated last year by the present administration in the state.
Alhaji Suleiman Atolagbe Alege disclosed this yesterday during his inspection of some Fix Post and Temporary Fix Post of Measles Immunisation centres in Ilorin, the state capital.
Alhaji Suleiman said, "a proposal has been written to the Executive Governor on the need to recruit more specialised Health workers and the proposal has been approved by the governor".
The Health Commissioner while thanking Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed for considering the request, reassured the people of the state about government's commitment to the provision of adequate manpower and facilities for quality health for the people.
The commissioner who emphasised the importance of the immunisation against measles, said it was important that children at least 9 months to 5 years of age were vaccinated twice a year with the measles vaccine.
He urged that, to avoid measles outbreak, all children in the community must receive all vaccinations before the age of one year.
Alege also informed that the state would continue to provide useful information to the people on how to manage and control their health, adding that health was a fundamental programme.
The commissioner told the people of the state to always handle with all seriousness issues affecting health and to continue to participate actively in all programmes designed by the government.
He however promised that the state government would continue to clamp down on fake hospitals across the state in order to reduce the havoc caused by quack health practitioners.
He said the state government would continue to monitor the activities of hospitals and health practitioners to ensure that the people have access to quality health services.
The commissioner was accompanied on the visit to the centres by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alhaji AbdulSalam A Yusuf and other staff of the ministry.
