Kwara to partner professional bodies - Kisira
The Kwara State Government is to partner with relevant professional bodies to improve and enhance technological development in the state.
The State Deputy Governor, Elder Peter Kisira stated this yesterday in Ilorin while receiving members of the Nigeria Association of Technologists in Engineering led by the National President, Alhaji Ahmed Yabagi during a courtesy visit in his office.
Elder Kisira stated that the state government would continue to promote professionalism hence the establishment of various engineering related institutions in the state.
The Deputy Governor who acknowledged the importance of their service to humanity especially in the areas of power, water, housing, road and general welfare of the people reiterated the determination of the government to promote the training of engineers.
He called on the Federal Government and the association to give priority to the state especially in the areas of engineering to effectively utilize the potentials that were abound in the state.
Earlier, the President of the Association, Alhaji Ahmed Yabagi who explained that no nation could develop without technology commended the state government for its support to the body.
Alhaji Ahmed called for the provision of equipment for the state Polytechnic and other institutions to encourage technical and vocational education to produce enough manpower in the sector.
The NATE President rated Kwara state as the most peaceful in the country and called on the government to sustain the tempo.
The courtesy visit was attended by two members of the state executive council that were sworn in Wednesday, Alhaji Aro Yahaya Jamiu, works and transport and Alhaji Abubakar Idris, energy and their permanent secretaries.
