LP in Kwara commends war against corruption
Labour Party (LP) in Kwara has declared support for the present administration's anti-corruption crusade.
The party, therefore, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure effective war against corruption.
Mr AbdulMumini Onagun, the state secretary of the party, said in an interview in Ilorin on Friday that the president's decision to fight corruption would place the country in a good platform for development.
"Enough of impunity and high scale corruption that is crumbling the economy of the giant of Africa and retarding its progress.
"All Nigerians who have corruptly enriched themselves at the expense of the masses must be scrutinised and made to forfeit the assets they have in excess," he said.
Onagun commended Buhari for the bailout loans to state governments to pay backlog of workers' salaries.
He also called on state governments across the country to utilise the bailout to pay all salaries arrears and pension of workers without delay.
The secretary appealed to all aggrieved parties in the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to close ranks in the interest of Nigerian workers.
"Nigeria needs a vibrant labour movement and civil society for any meaningful development to take place," Onagun said.
He described workers as the watchdogs that should check the excesses of government and resist anti-workers and anti-people policies at all levels of governance.
