Afonja Dynasty Dissociates Self from Anti- Saraki
The People of Mogaji Are Community of Ilorin emirate, under the aegis of Afonja Descendants Union (ADU), have dissociated themselves from astatement credited to president of the association, Alhaji Abdulkarim Olola-Kasumu, which purportedly stated that the community is not insupport of emergence of Senator BukolaSaraki as Senate President.
Speaking at a press conference with journalists in Ilorin, the Mogaji Aare of Ilorin, Alhaji Aremu Zubair, said the community had supported the emergence of theSenate President with prayers, and remained loyal to him, describing the statement of Alhaji Olola-Kasumu as his personal opinion.
The community leader, who urged Nigerians to disregard the statement, said that Senator Saraki had been a source of unity and effective development to the community, adding that they are loyal to the All Progressive Congress (APC) government in the state. He also said that the community would investigate the matter toward sun raveling reasons behind the action of the ADU president, and meteout necessary sanctions.
Chairman, of APC Elders Forum in Mogaji Aare Ward I, Alhaji Laaro Mohammed, said that the president of APU was not a member of theparty, adding that the community voted enmasse for APC in last general election and described the development as saddening and disturbing. Also speaking, the general secretary of the ADU, Hassan Amao, who dissociated the association from the statement, said the association had never held a meeting in the last eight months, adding that Alhaji Olola-Kasumu did not carry members of the group along in his action.
He said the association was concerned with progress and development of the area, adding that the community expected more people-oriented development with the emergence of Senator Saraki as Senate President.
He said that the views expressed by the ADU president did not reflect the views of Afonja dynasty.
