Jebba Paper Mills begin operation next month

The Kwara State Governor, Dr Bukola Saraki, as parts of his administration’s industrial drive of the State, would flag off commercial production of the newly resuscitated Jebba Paper Mills next month.

The commencement of the Commercial production by the company would also provide employment for the unemployed youths and women in the state.

The Managing Director of the Paper Mills, Mr Ashay Nath-Jha, dropped this hint on Tuesday in Ilorin while fielding questions from Newsmen shortly after meeting with Governor Bukola Saraki at Government House, Ilorin.

Mr Jha, explained that, the company which was acquired last year from the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE) has provided employment for over one hundred and fifty indigenes of the state into various section in the company.

While disclosing that the State Chief Executive, Governor Bukola Saraki would flag-off the commercial production by May, 2009, the company’s managing director stated that, when the mills is fully operational, more hands would be required in its production, thus providing employment for the people of the State.

Also, he disclosed that the paper mill will also venture into massive Rice production to support government food security policy in the country.

In his remark, the State Commissioner for Industries and Solid Minerals, Alhaji Adamu Gene, assured that the State Government would give necessary assistance to the paper mill to ensure it commences its operation on schedule.

He also hinted that, governor Saraki would liaise with the federal relevant agencies in addressing the challenges confronting the paper mills to ensure that the state benefits maximally from the new company.

It would be recalled that, governor Bukola Saraki on assumption of office had set all necessary machinery in motion for the resuscitation of the moribund Nigeria paper mills, Jebba.
