Governor Saraki seeks citizens' cooperation to promote good governance

Date: 2009-11-29

Governor Bukola Saraki of Kwara State has reiterated the need for Nigerians to always cooperate and join hands with their leaders in order to promote good governance and harmonious co-existence.

Similarly, he admonished Muslim faithful in the country to be obedient to God, their creator and their leaders just as Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.W) did in obedience to Allah’s commandment to sacrifice his only son.

Dr Saraki made the appeal at the weekend while receiving the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahin Sulu-Gambari (CFR) and other Traditional Chiefs in the Emirate, who paid him a Traditional Sallah Homage at the Government House, Ilorin.

The Governor, who was represented by his deputy, Chief Joel Ogundeji said only with cooperation and support that the yearnings and aspirations of the people can be met by the leaders who are saddled with enormous responsibilities placed on their shoulder.

He expressed confidence that obedience to God by every Muslim faithful is the only way by which the essence of Eid-el-Kabir celebration could be realised.

Dr Saraki emphasized the need for peace and harmony, pointing out that what the administration has been able to achieve in the past six years was as a result of the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in the State.

The Chief Executive expressed appreciation to the Monarch and the entire people of the State for their support and cooperation, which he said, accounted for the monumental achievements of his administration and urged them to keep up the pace.

He, however, assured the people of the State that all on-going projects embarked upon by his administration would not be abandoned as he guaranteed that they would be completed to further enhance the socio-economic development of the State.

Earlier, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari had praised the Bukola Saraki-led administration for turning around the State.

"The Emirate is proud of your administration", the Emir declared, praying that the 8- year tenure of Dr Saraki would come to an end peacefully without any hitch.

"Saraki has come to make his mark in the history of Kwara State as posterity will never forget you. I am proud to say that you are the best in Nigeria", the Monarch further said.

Alhaji Gambari prayed God to grant Mr President soonest recovery and also besieged Him to continue to be with the administration of Dr Saraki so that a lot more could be done for the people of the State.
