Police say secutiry lapses in presidential polls corrected
The Nigerian police have said the they made effort to correct the security lapses and mistakes of the March 28 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Femi Adenaike said who is supervising the governorship and state legislators' elections in Kwara State told newsmen in Ilorin on Friday that adequate security arrangements have been put in place for the successful conduct of elections in the state.
There were complaints of inadequate police presence in some polling booths during the last elections leading to rowdiness at some centres.
However, the AIG who is in charge of Training and Development at the Force Headquarters explained that the police authorities were aware of the complaints and assured that they would be addressed in Saturday's elections.
He disclosed that the police had deployed personnel from states where governorship elections would not be holding to assist officers in some states of the federation.
According to him, as part of the arrangement, he was deployed to supervise election only in Kwara State unlike on March 28 when he was in charge of three states.
