Polls: Kwara CNPP declares for Ahmed

Congress of Nigeria's Political Party, CNPP, a coalition of political parties, Kwara State chapter, on Monday announced the stepping down of their candidates for Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of APC in Saturday's governorship election.

Chairman of CNPP, Alhaji Adebayo Lawal, who made this known at a news conference on Monday in Ilorin, was accompanied to the briefing by eight chairmen of other parties.

Lawal, who is also Chairman of the Action Alliance, AA, in the state, was joined by the Progressives Peoples Alliance, PPA, United Progressives Party, UPP, Social Democratic Party, SDP, United Democratic Party, UNP, Citizen Popular Party, CPP, All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and African Congress of Democrats, ACD.

"It is no longer news that General Muhammadu Buhari won the general election held on Saturday March 28, and President Goodluck Jonathan had the courage to congratulate him hours before INEC declared Buhari the winner.

"It is heart-warming and encouraging as Nigerians made their choice in a free and credible election, which the retired General won overwhelmingly to become President- elect of Nigeria," Lawal said. He described APC and its candidates.

He said the CNPP was taking the step in line with its perceived reason to be in the mainstream of the nation's politics by ensuring that Governor Ahmed of the APC got reelected in Kwara. Lawal therefore called on CNPP members to vote for APC on Saturday, April 11, 2015.
