Ahmed Congratulates Buhari

Date: 2015-04-02

Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed has described ?the emergence of the All Progressives Congress candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari as the President-elect as the birth of a new dawn for national development and integration in the country.

Ahmed said this in a congratulatory message to the President – elect soon after Gen. Buhari was declared as the winner of last weekend presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The governor noted that given the extensive nature of votes garnered by Buhari, Nigeria's democracy has finally transmitted from its 16- year tag of been nascent to a firm footed one.

While commending President Goodluck Jonathan for organising the freest and most credible elections in the country, the governor saluted the magnanimity and courage of Mr President for conceding defeat even before the official declaration of final result of the election.

"With this show of rare statesmanship", Gov. Ahmed said, "our President will forever remain a hero whose name will go into the history book as a courageous democrat".

Ahmed commended Nigerians for their patient, resilience and determination in the historic match for sustainable democracy and expressed optimism that given the pedigree of the President-elect, things will get better in Nigeria.
