Five students suspected to be members of cult groups were yesterday remanded in prison by a Magistrate's Court in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The suspects are: Suleiman Bolakale, Adebayo Femi, Tajudeen Ridiwa, Olasunkami Quadri and Ambali Lukman.

It was gathered that the case was transferred from the Oro Police Station to the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Ilorin.

It was further gathered that the suspects were arrested on March 4 by the police after a gun shot at the matriculation ceremony of College of Education Oro.

The prosecution said that in the course of investigation, it was discovered that Suleiman Bolakale, Olasunkanmi Quadri, Ambali Lukman and others, at large, are members of Aiye secret cult while Adebayo Femi, Tajudeen Ridiwan and others, now at large, are members of Eiye confraternity. It added that the suspects were at the matriculation ceremony to recruit new members.

The court could not take the plea and Magistrate B.A. Gegele said they should be remanded in prison. The case has been adjourned to March 24.
