Kwara PDP denies waging war against APC

Date: 2015-03-02

The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denied the alleged plans to wage war against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State.

The party’s Deputy Governorship candidate in the State, Alhaji Hammed Yinka Aluko debunked the allegation on Thursday in Ilorin, the State capital while fielding questions from members of the Correspondents’ chapel of the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

His words: “APC is a propaganda party and it is good at making semantic noise. The committee was set up by our party to plan strategies to win the forthcoming general elections.

“The State PDP comprises of people of proven integrity. Our party is known for preaching peace. There is no war anywhere except the one that will fight with Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) at the polls”.

The State APC had at a news conference alleged that its rival, PDP had constituted “21 war council members” in the State, calling on the Police to investigate the matter.

The former security adviser to ex-Governor Bukola Saraki and his successor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, maintained that the present administration in the state has not delivered dividends of democracy to the people as expected.

He promised that if his party is given the mandate in next month’s elections, it will patronise local contractors with a view to having positive multiplier effect on the economy of the State.

“If our party is voted into power in the forthcoming polls, we will patronise local contractors and consultants in order to improve the economy of the state. We will also empower our teeming youths that are unemployed”, he added.

Aluko who lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the State for its industry, urged it to ensure free and fair elections on March 28th and April 11th this year
