Dr Sulu Gambari made the call in Oke-Oyi on Friday while speaking at the 49th Annual National Conference of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) hosted by Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The traditional ruler described unity and understanding as panacea to the development of any community.

He also implored the people of Ilorin Emirate to embrace peace in all their undertakings.

While stressing the importance of peace to the development of any nation, the monarch noted that no meaningful development could be achieved in any rancorous environment.

The Emir advised sons and daughters of Ilorin Emirate in abroad to come and invest in the community with a view to enhancing social and economic development of the Emirate and the state at large.

In his remark, the Chairman of Ilorin East Local Government, Barrister Abdullateef Amodu Okandeji said the vision of the founding father of the union was to foster unity among indigenes of five local governments that constituted the Emirate and accelerate social, economic and political development of the areas.

Barrister Okandeji commended the leadership of IEDPU for working hard to sustain high level of development and progress of the union which he said had won the union great respect in Kwara State and the country at large.

The council boss urged the leadership and members of the union to support the present administration in the state which he noted had demonstrated its commitment to the welfare of the people.

The National President of IEDPU, Alhaji Abdulhamid Adi, the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammad Bashir Soliu, the Baloguns, Magajis and delegates from across the country and abroad were among the dignitaries in attendance at the event.
