Workers get salaries in Kwara

Date: 2014-12-24

The hope of a joyous Christmas celebration was ignited for civil servants in Kwara State yesterday following the payment of their December salaries by the state government.

Many civil servants had been apprehensively expecting the December salaries to be able to celebrate the Christmas and New Year festivities.

However, some categories of workers, especially those working in parastatals, were yet to receive their salary alerts. Among those who have received their alerts are teachers under state teaching service as well as workers in the mainstream civil service.

A primary school teacher who had earlier told our correspondent that he might not be able to celebrate Christmas later confirmed to Daily Trust that he had received salary alert from the bank.

“I have just seen my salary alert,” he said.

Pensioners have also been paid, Daily Trust learnt yesterday.
