Upgrade of chiefs not political - Kwara Gov.
Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed said at the weekend that the recent grading and upgrade of some traditional rulers in the state has no political undertone.
He said the exercise is a continuous process, assuring that all qualified stools would be upgraded.
It would be recalled that the governor recently approved the grading and upgrading of over 70 traditional rulers.
Speaking at the 9th Omo Ibile Igbomina Day celebration held at his hometown of Share, the headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government, Ahmed promised that other deserving monarchs would have their ranks upgraded.
The governor said his administration would not relent in providing physical and social infrastructure in all communities to ensure accelerated development of the state, notwithstanding the current paucity of funds.
Ahmed, who highlighted various achievements of his administration in Igbomina land, promised to construct township roads in senatorial districts like Agunjin-Agbeku-Owa Kajola-Owode-Afaro, Idofian-Maloko-Igbo-Owu-Igbaja, Oke-Onigbin-Isanlu-Isin, Anilelerin, among others.
He added that his administration has completed and commissioned road projects such as Oro-Ojomu Oro and Ijara-Isanlu Isin while several others are at various stages of completion under the shared prosperity programme of the government.
He commended the Omo Ibile Igbomina for its partnership with the state government in the areas of community development and ensuring peace and stability.
National president of the socio-cultural organisation, Dr Samuel Atolagbe, commended the state government and the traditional institution for the upgrade of traditional rulers and charged the governor to facilitate effective industrialisation of Igbomina.
