Epileptic power supply will vanish, if...- Gov Ahmed
Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State has said in Ilorin, that "unless electricity issue is fully unbundled, the problem of epileptic power supply will never vanish".
The governor who made the observation at an interactive session with civil servants emphasised that no meaningful headway could be made in the energy sector except the Federal Government was ready to synergize with states of the Federation.
Governor Ahmed also mentioned three states who had generated power that were later disappointed by the Federal Government that was supposed to saddle the responsibility of transmitting and distributing the power generated.
The governor who expressed dismay over the Federal Government's lackadaisical attitude towards certain important policies, maintained that unless there was synergy among all tiers of government, no meaningful achievement would be recorded.
Said he:"Unless we continue with impactive policies and programmes, we will continue to be moving within the same circle".
Governor Ahmed who reminded the gathering that government alone could not address unemployment problem in the country, called on the government to enact policies that would encourage springing up of industries across the country.
"No industry can spring up in an atmosphere where we have porous borders and unstable power generation. There should be policies that will discourage smuggling activities and see to the improvement of electricity supply".
With all these in place, according to the governor, the problem of unemployment would vanish within a twinkle of an eye. Because industrialisation will happen and people will get jobs. It will surely have multiplier effects on the society.
He therefore spoke of his intention to continue to address the unemployment problem within his capacity as a governor, advocating collaborative efforts from well-to-do individuals by investing in the country.
