Police Arrest Inter-State Robbery Gang
A notorious inter state armed bandit has been arrested by the Osun State Police Command.
The bandit including Abdulkazeem Ibrahim, Amos Gbenga, Eyinjodowo Kola and Afeez Mohammed, who have been terrorising the people of the state and Kwara State, were arrested based on a tip off.
The State Commissioner of Police, Abukabar Marafa, said that command's Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, recorded the feat.
He stated that the arrest was part of the efforts and successes of the police command in combating crime and criminality.
The commissioner of police who spoke through the command Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Folashade Odoro, disclosed further that Dugbe Divisional Headquarters of the police was on 28 of August, 2014 at 9:30pm, informed by a complainant that one of the suspects was sitting at the back of a motorcycle carrying guns in a sack.
According to Marafa, the suspects were given hot chase towards Eko Ende road, Ikirun, in Ifelodun Local government area of the state and, at a close range one of them fired a shot at the complainant but missed his target.
The brave complainant, the CP said, summoned courage, dragged the suspects down from the motorcycle and arrested the 31-year-old Abdulkareem Ibrahim with a pump action barrel gun, while others escaped.
"During the course of investigation by the Command SARS, the arrested suspect confessed that he belongs to a four-man robbery gang that has robbed several victims at Ikirun of their vehicles and other valuables.
He mentioned seven robbery incidents he carried out at Ikirun, Ilobu in Osun State and Kwara State respectively", the CP added.
Speaking further, he said that intensified investigations by the police led to the arrest of other members of the syndicate and recovery of arms and ammunitions.
Apart from the pump action gun with two life cartridges, one berretta long range assorted rifle with 13 rounds 7mm ammunitions, one English Pump Action with 19 cartridges, one locally made double barrel gun, two dagger knives and assorted charms were also recovered from the suspects.
Marafa explained that the suspects would be arraigned in court at the conclusion of investigation.
