Cricket: 750 students for Kwara "Let's Play" Clinic
No fewer than 750 students from 30 schools in Kwara would participate in a two-day cricket clinic tagged "Let's Play" from July 3 to July 4.
The Coordinator of the event, Wale Babalola, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Ilorin.
He said 25 students each will come from the 30 schools to make up for the 750 students scheduled to take part in the clinic.
Babalola added that the Kwara Cricket Association was working hard to revive the game in the state.
He hinted that the organisers would give participating schools some playing kits so that they could continue to practice what they might learn from the clinic.
Babalola, who doubles as the Kwara Stadium Manager, said the state would build on its recent success at the just-concluded National U-15 boys and U-17 girls championships in Abuja.
He said the state represented the North-Central region in the 2014 National Cricket Championships with the girls clinching the third position, while the boys finished fourth in their category.
Babalola also disclosed that the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) had invited six Kwara players to the national camp.
Those invited include Biokoto Adewale, from Ansardeen Junior Secondary School, Abolarin Rasheed, Taiye Abdulkadir, Kehinde Abdulkadir and Samson Rachael, all from Odokun Secondary School, Ilorin.
He disclosed that one Kehinde Abdulkadir won the best batsman of the series.
The player also won the most promising player of the series and cricketer of the series in the female category of the national championships.
