Housewife seeks marriage dissolution over lack of care.
A 28 year-old housewife, Lola Idowu on Friday urged an Ilorin Area Court to dissolve her two-year-old marriage to Dare, for lack of maintenance.
Lola, who resides at Unity Area, Ilorin, alleged that her husband was not taking care of her and their only daughter.
She told the court that Idowu preferred to lavish money on unnecessary things than spending on his family.
The petitioner also told the court that her husband was a ‘pretender’, always acting nice and responsible in the public.
“My husband spends on friends at beer joints just to impress his drunken colleagues,” she said.
She said that their marriage was contracted in 2012 and had produced a female child, Bisi, which the petitioner claimed she was the only one responsible for her upkeep.
“My Lord, I want an end to this marriage because I cannot cope with a man that doesn’t care for his family,” she said.
The respondent opposed the petition, saying he was still interested in the marriage, and applied for an adjournment to reconcile with the wife.
Idowu also promised to always do his best to make his family happy henceforth.
The Presiding Officer, Mr Yusuf Abdulkareem, adjourned the case till June 4, for report of settlement or continuation of hearing.
