Date: 2012-06-29

The rumour that the marriage between Sherrif Shagaya, son of billionaire business woman, Hajia Bola Shagaya and Maryam Tukur, daughter of Alhaji Bamangar Tukur, Chairman of People’s Democratic Party is on the brink of collapse has been refuted by a source close to the couple.

Describing the rumour as “untrue and malicious”, the source said the couple are living everyday of their like they are still on honeymoon.

“Maryam has been a dutiful, respectful and obedient wife to Sherrif just as Sherrif has been a good, loving husband” said the source.

The rumour  had it  that Maryam, born with  silverspoon had been allegedly reluctant  to submit to the matrimonial demands of the union. She  is also said to have resisted the   overbearing influence her mother in-law, Hajia Bola Shagaya is having on the marriage.

Sheriff and Maryam wedded November 13, 2010 in Lagos in a ceremony that remains talk of  the town.

The wedding still holds the record of being the only wedding to have taken place in the Eko Hotel Expo Centre, combining the five Halls of Eko Hotel into one.
