Assembly confirms two commissioners in Kwara

Date: 2013-12-12

Kwara State House of Assembly yesterday confirmed two nominees as commissioners for the new cabinet.

Kamaldeen Ajibade and Ademola Banu were members of the cabinet which was dissolved on October 23.

While Ajibade was Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Banu served as Commissioner for Finance. Their confirmation followed a letter dated December 9 sent to the House on Tuesday by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.

The governor said his request for their confirmation was in line with constitutional provisions. The nominees were unanimously confirmed by the House having found them fit. The new commissioners did not pass through any serious screening as they were asked to take bow and exit the chamber after the Speaker Razaq Atunwa verified their credentials.

Daily Trust gathered that the main list of commissioner-nominees is being compiled to include representatives of parties that form the APC in the state.
