Toyin Saraki Calls On Health Sector To Regroup For Impact, Reboot For Development

The Founder-President of the Wellbeing Foundation Africa, Toyin Saraki today participated in the third edition of SheForumAfrica - the annual women development, leadership and lifestyle conference which took place at the Sheraton Hotel, Abuja, Nigeria.

Mrs Saraki also represented the wife of the President, HE Mrs Aisha Buhari and opened the Forum with a keynote speech on her behalf.

The 2016 SheForumAfrica conference theme was: 'REGROUP, REBOOT, REMOVE THE MASK' and how cutting-edge paradigms will see women reorganise, realign, refresh their perspectives through target strategies, policies and commitments to building a better and brighter Africa that leverages the intrinsic skills of the African woman.

Mrs. Saraki, speaking on the Health And Lifestyle Panel: Addressing Preventable Health Issues That Affect Women: A Look At Cutting Edge Interventions For Strengthening Public Health Systems, focused on the need for women and girls to be provided with information on their sexual and reproductive health rights noting: "We have shown, through the impact of our MamaCare inclusive and respectful approach, rebooted through midwife groupings of care and counsel, and reaching over 125,000 women in just 12 months, that we can achieve quantum leaps in progress and development by regrouping for effective impact, rebooting around social determinants, and removing the mask of ignorance that lack of data and true information places as a stagnating factor; ensuring equality, equity and universal opportunities, in every sector and in every life, allows us not only develop better, but also hold ourselves, and our nation, accountable, to sustain our development, for every girl and boy, every man and woman."

Other panelists included Public Health Professional, Dr. Amina Dorayi, and the Director of Special Projects, Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Ngozi Azodo. The moderator of the panel was the Executive Director, International Society of Media in Public Health, Moji Makanjuola.
