Kwara workers to get health insurance
CIVIL servants in Kwara State and their families are to benefit from a comprehensive health insurance scheme being instituted by the state government.
Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed said this on Monday in Ilorin when the management team of Healthcare International Limited, led by its Managing Director, Dr. Mustapha Kazeem paid him a courtesy call.
Ahmed said the insurance scheme is part of his administration’s programme of shared prosperity by ensuring availability of primary health care centres within 500 metres and secondary health centres for cluster of primary health centres.
The governor described the comprehensive insurance scheme as a way of ensuring a healthy workforce in consonant with its human capital development policy.
Ahmed also said his administration has embarked on comprehensive rehabilitation of five general hospitals in parts of the state, including the old site of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.
He added, "by rehabilitating the general hospitals, our people will have access to proper health care for a better society."
The Governor said his administration is ready to partner with any group that would advance the cause of health care delivery in Kwara State.
The managing director of United Health care International Limited said his organisation will explore its international partnership to ensure that Kwara State takes advantage of the Maternal and Child health goal of the Millennium Development Goals.
Kazeem explained that through its intervention, Kwara State could have in place group plans that will give government personnel access to proper medical care anywhere in the world at no cost to the state government.
