Offa LG re-run: Rig at your own peril, Belgore warns Kwara PDP
Ahead of Saturday's re-run election in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara state, the former gubernatorial candidate of defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Mohammed Dele Belgore, has warned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) not to make any attempt to rig the election.
Belgore who stated this in Offa in an interview with newsmen during All Progressive Congress (APC) rally noted that if the PDP is confident enough, it should be orderly and let the people's votes count.
"Our advise is very simple, we have the people, we have the support. People will be there in an orderly and lawfully manner to await the rest of the process. Because voting is one of the process; there is counting, collation and announcement.
"People will be there at every stage in accordance with the law. It is pure and straight forward. If PDP are confidence enough, they should do the same."
While dismissing allegation that APC are planning to disrupt the poll, Belgore said only unpopular political party "The allegation is obviously false. Why must the popular party on ground want to disrupt? Why? So, it is the PDP that is laying the foundation.
The Chairmanship candidate of the APC, Prince Saheed Popoola, in his reaction said the party worry was issue of security and they have written to President Goodluck Jonathan to provide the community with adequate security.
