Citizens' Report: Best Literature Students in Schools to Get N5000 - Barrister Dada

A legal practitioner, Barrister Abiodun Dada has promised to award the sum of N5,000 to the best literature student in each secondary school across Kwara State.

Barrister Dada made the promise to all the participating schools at the Inter school quiz competition held during the week at the Anglican Comprehensive High School, Oke Opin in Ekiti LG area of Kwara State.

While encouraging Art students to take literature serious, Barrister Dada stated that, ‘’I urged you all to take literature serious and I promise to give N5000 to every student who emerge as the best literature student in their respective schools’’.

The competition which was hosted by the National Association of Ekiti (Kwara) students (NAEKS) draw its participants from the Ekiti speaking area across the state and the event produced Anglican Comprehensive High School Oke-Opin as the winner.

The two students who represented Anglican Comprehensive high school at the competition Olajide O. Bless and Adeniyi D. Timileyin went home with their WAEC examination fee paid in cash to them by the organizers, plus a gift to their school for winning the 1st prize and another prize for their school for participating at the event.

The second and third prize went to Community secondary school, Etan and Osi central Secondary school respectively. All other schools that attended the competition also went home with textbooks as a compensation for their participation.

Barrister Abiodun Dada in his address to the students noted that, some years ago, he was like them killing animals in the bush, but today, he give glory to the almighty that made him what he is today. Adding that, the major purpose of the event is to encourage the students to work hard and concentrate on their studies without minding their present condition. He assured the students that, if they work hard and put God first, there is no limitation to their success. In his words, ‘’if you work hard, the sky would be your starting point’’

The President of the Association, Comrade Awogbemi Babajide expresses his gratitude to the sponsor and others who contributed immensely in other ways to ensure the success of the event.

While presenting the award to the winners, the former president of the Association, Comrade Busayo David urged the students to take the responsibility of returning the gesture when they assume the position to do so in the future, he also noted that, barrister Dada has always been the pillar of the association, adding that; he was a pioneer member who played significant role in ensuring the sustainability of the association. He prayed and asked the students to join him pray for the continues success of the association and its sponsors. Other schools that participated include Muslim Community secondary school which came 4th, Benevolent High School etc.
