Politician charged with rape of 5-year-old girl
Kwara state Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin, has remanded a 35 -year old ex-Councillorship aspirant in Yagba West local government area of Kogi state, simply identified as Sunday Gbenga, for allegedly raping a five-year old girl.
DailyPost has gathered that the accused lured the victim on June 18 to his room with sweet and raped her.
According to a reliable source, when Sunday sensed the implication of his action, he went into hiding and later curiously resurfaced with some policemen to arrest the victim's grandmother for smearing him on the matter.
On getting to the police station, the victim who had gone to the police station together with her grandmother identified the suspect who was subsequently arrested and handed over to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.
The suspect was charged to court on a one-count charge of rape, contrary to section 283 of penal code law.
Magistrate A. Adeniyi adjourned the case till July 10th for further mention.
