Keep Environment Healthy, Govt Urges Kwarans
The Kwara State Government has called on people of the state to always make their environment clean and tidy, so as to prevent outbreak of diseases in the state.
The State Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Abdul Kayode Issa, stated this while meeting with Health personnel on preventive measures being taken against the outbreak of diseases in the state.
The meeting, meant to intimate health personnel on the recent occurrences of various diseases in several states in the country, including Lassa fever.
The commissioner who noted that though no case of the fever has been reported in Kwara State said the state Ministry of Health Surveillance and Disease Control team was taking proactive measures to prevent the occurrence of any outbreak of disease.
He maintained that the ministry is sensitizing clinicians and other health workers to increase the level of suspicion to enhance early case of recognition and prompt management actions.
He said there is need for community sensitization and awareness on how to prevent disease outbreak especially by keeping a healthy environment, making the home free of rats and avoidance of contaminated foods and drinks.
Issa assured Kwara indigenes of a quantitative healthcare service delivery of the state Ministry of Health and readiness in combating the outbreak of any disease.
Earlier in her remarks, the Director of Primary Healthcare of the State, Dr. Patience Abimbola Folorunsho, commended the efforts of the state government for giving the health the provision of resources to support disease control in the state.
Folorunsho added that the health personnel would increase surveillance activities to intensify case finding by the epidemiology and disease control units.
