Regularize signage, KWASAA warns

Date: 2013-05-22

The Director-General of the Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASAA), Alhaji Hammed Olufadi, has appealed to the owners of illegal signboards in the state to regularize their structures.
The DG made the appeal yesterday during an enforcement exercise, saying that the agency would leave no stone unturned to ensure that sanity is returned to the city of Ilorin and other major towns of the various local government areas.
The agency yesterday embarked on the enforcement exercise along Ahmadu Bello way, Taiwo road, Adewole Estate and Sango roads where over 200 illegal sign boards were removed from road sides.
Olufadi disclosed   that the essence of the exercise was to remove all dangerous signage and beautify the state capital using signage as a platform.
"Most of these structures are under electrical lines, some are erected dangerously. We therefore want all owners to regularize their signboards. They should come and collect registration forms so as to enable us give them number that will enable us monitor their structures all year round," the DG said.
Olufadi explained that the idea of removing signboards along Government House road yesterday was to show that government would not discriminate in the exercise.
