JAMB releases withheld results...as 100,000 take CBT exams

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB has released the results of the candidates which were withheld as a result of non-biometric verification during the 2013 Unified Tertiary Matriculation examination.
Answering questions on NTA's Weekend File, the JAMB Registrar, Professor Dibu Ojerinde, said 80,419 results of candidates were withheld for miscellaneous reasons.
He added that over 60,000 results are still undergoing screening, while over 12,000 of the released results passed the examination.
The JAMB Registrar said that the board made no mistake in the collation of the candidates' result, confirming that their failure was due to various examination malpractices.
"The candidates rigged it; they gave them wrong answers. There were no Type A or C in our questions. But the candidates answered these types. We only had types D,I,B and U, the concept which was derived from my name Dibu. But these candidates went into the examination hall and answered Types A and C, because they had been given wrong answers by some people. The candidates were being defrauded. The fraudsters are everywhere. Even if you go to the internet, you will see"If you want to score 300 in JAMB, consult us with N5,000." He explained.
Meanwhile, the board has commenced the conduct of Computer-Based Test (CBT) option of the examination for the candidates across the country.
A source at the JAMB office, Ilorin, told The Herald that about 100,000 candidates who had initially chosen the CBT option of the examination are currently taking the examination in various centres across the country.
He added that the examination will run from Saturday 18th to Wednesday 22, with candidates given different schedules and at least two batches would be taken in a day.
The source added that the results of the examination would be out three hours after each batch.
Some of the candidates who spoke with The Herald at the University of Ilorin, the only centre for the examination in Kwara State, disclosed that they chose the CBT option because they obtained late registration forms, although expressing satisfaction with the examination.
A candidate, Okunola Janet said"there was nothing difficult in the exam, although some people gave different complaints. But if you know it, you will find it easy."
Another candidate, Yisau Opeyemi added," I bought late registration form which made me to choose Unilorin centre, from the two available options of Ilorin and Maiduguri."
All the candidates who spoke however complained that they were given 3 hours for the examination, against 31/2 hours for Paper and Pencil Test.
