'Nursing School for Commissioning Soon'

The Kwara State government has concluded arrangements for the accreditation of its new College of Nursing, Oke-Ode in Ifelodun local government area of the state by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

Speaking on the planned take off of the college during an assessment tour by members of the Kwara State council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) tagged "democracy dividends tour", the state Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu Lade said the state government would soon invite the nursing and midwifery council for accreditation.

Lade said the state government has equipped the college with all necessary facilities as required by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria to ensure its smooth take off adding that it was only undergoing finishing touches and installations of some equipment.

Conducting journalists round the College facilities, the Provost, Mr. Luke Malomo said the College has taken delivery of some materials including two stand by generating sets, computer sets, equipment for Anatomy and Nursing demonstration rooms.

He said 40 capacity rooms hostels for females and 10 capacity for males have been completed saying that the College was expecting more furniture for the academic sections.

Also visited by the team was the ongoing work at the first phase of the Faculty of Engineering

Technology of Kwara state University (KWASU) billed for completion in December this year.
