Incompetence: Buhari Wants Kwara Commissioners Removed

Date: 2013-04-12

The Kwara state Chairman of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Suleiman Buhari, has asked governor of the state, Abdulfatah Ahmed, to remove his incompetent cabinet members and replace them with tested and trusted professionals.

In a statement issued in Ilorin, Buhari suggested that creation of more departments and agencies in place of some of the ministries would help the state instead of maintaining the ministries, most of which he said have become redundant.

According to the party chairman, “Our party is doubtful whether Kwarans are excited about news making the rounds yet again insinuating an imminent cabinet change, as every attempt in the recent past seemed to have left us worse off than we were. If the government is not appointing more redundant aides in place of the removed dead woods, it is establishing more MDAs.”

He added, “The whole exercise of cabinet reshuffle has turned out to be a hoax, meaningless and laughable, such that political appointments under the PDP-led government, seem to be for rehabilitation and a family welfare scheme of some sort.”

Buhari who insisted that cabinet reshuffling would not help the state, however suggested that instead of recycling Peoples Democratic Party members, governor Ahmed should get professionals outside his party to deliver what the people of the state desired.

“It is now clear like crystal that the presence of some of the members of the State Executive Council has not added any marginal value to the governance of the state, rather, they are at best do-nothing, bench warmers feeding fat on the state resources without a commensurate contribution in return.”

At this juncture, he took a swipe on the Commissioner for Tertiary Education in the state, saying that specifically, the obvious ineptitude of the commissioner deserves an immediate sack.

“The alarming level of rot and the arrays of avoidable fatal skirmishes arising from cult clashes, industrial actions and mindless looting by certain PDP board members and management staff of some of the higher institutions in the state right under his nose is evidence enough to show him the door.”, Buhari said.

He lamented that under his watch, the state tertiary education has descended to a theatre of absurd, where constant mindless cult related clashes have become the norm rather than a crime.
