Oladuntoye Lauds Unuanel
Kwara United defender, Isiaka Oladuntoye has confidently revealed to supersport.com that his side's 1-0 shock away win at Sharks in the NPFL Matchday 3 fixture is an indication that the Afonja Warriors are serious contenders this term for the title.
Striker Najeem Olukokun's superb strike in the 55th minute was the goal that separated both sides which was Kwara United's first ever away win over the Port Harcourt-based club at their backyard on Sunday.
Kwara United have never won any major title since their formation in 1974, then known as Kwara Water Corporation.
But Oladuntoye, 21, believes that head coach, Samson Unuanel has the charisma to win the league title for the Ilorin-based club this season.
“Sharks thought we were in Port Harcourt to play, and that was the reason they were taught a good lesson in football.
“We captured them from the blast of the whistle to the end and I was elated with how their fans behaved as they knew we deserved the three points.
“Records are meant to be broken, and I believe that our coach (Unuanel) would win at least a trophy this season and we are ready to support him,” Oladuntoye said to supersport.com in Ilorin.
Kwara United began their campaign this term with a goalless draw at city rivals, ABS before being forced to a 1-1 draw at home in their Matchday two duel against visiting Sunshine Stars.
The Afonja Warriors currently occupy eighth position on the NPFL standings on five points after three games.
They will welcome Federation Cup holders, Heartland in their Matchday 4 encounter this mid-week.
