UNILORIN VC Celebrates Oloyede's Remarkable 10-Year Legacy as JAMB Registrar

Date: 2026-08-03

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdulwahab Olasupo Egbewole (SAN), has congratulated Emeritus Prof. Is'haq Olanrewaju Oloyede on the successful completion of his 10-year tenure as Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), describing his service as a remarkable legacy of integrity, innovation and excellence.

Speaking at a send-off ceremony held in Abuja, where Oloyede formally handed over to his successor, Prof. Segun Aina, Egbewole said the University of Ilorin was proud of the achievements of one of its former Vice-Chancellors.

He described Oloyede as a "total Unilorite" whose professionalism, transparency and unwavering commitment to public service brought honour to the institution and transformed JAMB into a more credible and globally respected examination body.

Oloyede, who served as the 8th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin between 2007 and 2012 before leading JAMB from 2016 to 2026, was widely commended for reforms that strengthened the Computer-Based Test (CBT) system, introduced the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), expanded biometric verification, enhanced digital payment systems and significantly reduced examination malpractice.

In his valedictory remarks, Oloyede said he was leaving behind a stronger, more transparent and technologically driven admissions body than the one he inherited.

He also highlighted major staff welfare initiatives implemented during his administration, including over N8 billion invested in retirement savings, the introduction of a 13th-month salary, improved allowances, free transportation, medical support and retirement packages of between N3 million and N10 million for retiring staff.

The former JAMB Registrar urged Nigerians to support the new Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, stressing that the future of the examination body depends on continuity rather than individuals. He also accepted responsibility for any shortcomings recorded during his tenure and expressed confidence that his successor would build on the achievements of the past decade.
