Kwara Trains Over 2,500 Youths in Tech-Related Skills
The Kwara State Government is strengthening its position in Nigeria's digital space, with over 2,500 youths trained in technology-related skills under various government-backed initiatives.
The Special Assistant to the Governor of Kwara State on Digital Innovation, Mr. Kayode Ishola, disclosed this in an exclusive interview with our correspondent, Olabode Ahmed, in his office at the Governor's Office, Ilorin.
Mr. Ishola said the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is focused on positioning the state as a leading hub for technology talent and innovation through targeted digital programmes.
According to the Special Assistant on Digital Innovation, Kwara has actively participated in the Federal Government's Three Million Technical Talents initiative, training thousands of young people, alongside providing laptops, funding support, and mentorship to outstanding participants.
He added that the Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Programme has also trained over 5,600 public school students, equipping them with essential digital skills.
Mr. Ishola noted that some beneficiaries have secured internships, jobs, and launched startups, boosting youth employment and entrepreneurship.
He further explained that the government is expanding digital access in rural communities through improved infrastructure and partnerships to enhance internet connectivity.
Mr. Ishola said the state remains committed to digital transformation despite challenges such as logistics, manpower shortages, and power supply.
The Digital Innovation Expert urged young people to take advantage of emerging opportunities in the tech space and build globally competitive skills.
