Miyetti Allah President Arrested For Banditry
In a significant move against the wave of insecurity in North Central Nigeria, the Kwara State Police Command has announced the arrest of several high-ranking Fulani leaders, including the President of the state's Miyetti Allah chapter.
The suspects are accused of being the primary sponsors of armed banditry and masterminding multiple kidnapping operations that have terrorized local communities. According to a statement released on the Command's official WhatsApp platform late Tuesday night, the arrests were the result of months of intensive security intelligence and surveillance.
To bolster transparency, the police shared a photograph of three of the principal suspects. The statement highlighted a disturbing trend: the suspects are all over 60 years old, a demographic typically expected to serve as community mediators and voices of peace.
"Investigators say the Miyetti Allah leader reportedly admitted to aiding multiple kidnapping operations linked to Fulani bandits," the police statement read. The Command further clarified that these arrests are based on specific criminal allegations against individuals and are not an indictment of the broader Fulani community.
"This case exposes a deep moral failure by specific leaders, not a community, and it demands full accountability under the law," the statement concluded.
The suspects remain in custody as the Police Command continues to extract information aimed at identifying further hideouts and accomplices. Residents have been urged to remain calm and continue providing information that could assist in restoring total peace to the state.
