The Kwara State Government has commenced the distribution and installation of 34 recently procured transformers across the state's three senatorial districts. This initiative is aimed at stabilizing electricity supply, improving the welfare of residents, and boosting socio-economic activities.

The Commissioner for Energy, Engr. AbdulAzeez Kola AbdulGaniy, announced the rollout over the weekend during an inspection at Orisunbare Street, off Egbejila Road, Ilorin. He noted that the project is a direct fulfillment of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's commitment to equitable development across both urban and rural communities.

Key Installation Sites Include:

Ilorin West: Caliphate Estate (Lubcon Area), Baba Ode Halbash Bakery (Asa-Dam), Ojodu Community (Baboko), and Mandate Area.

Ilorin East & South: Sabo Oke (Sokoto Road), Akorede Community (Oke-Oyi), Kulende, Unity Estate (Tanke), and Otitolere (Kilanko).

Kwara North & South: Shao (Moro), Old Garage Area (Kaiama), Ipee (Oyun), Obo-Aiyegunle (Ekiti), Oke-Onigbin (Isin), and Onila-Omido (Irepodun).

Special Facilities: The Rehabilitation Centre in Amoyo (Ifelodun LGA) is also among the prioritized beneficiaries.

Engr. AbdulGaniy assured residents of Shao, where work has already begun, and other beneficiary zones that the technical teams are working to ensure swift completion. He further appealed to communities not captured in this batch to remain patient, stating that they would be included in the next phase of the administration's power intervention scheme.

The government emphasized that improving the power grid is essential for small businesses and artisans whose livelihoods depend on a steady supply of electricity.
